  1. ** throws codes & goes into limp mode as soon as I give it a bootful
  2. Hi all, If someone can point me in the right direction, that would be awesome. Have my Barra N/A GQ Patrol, have it tuned up, but want to improve the throttle responsiveness, as it's a big car. Don't need drastic changes, just a bit, but every time I make a change, it throws codes at me. I've not changed the minimum & maximum, but have tried the following: - Changed auF0083 & 84 to a 'similar to FG' curve - Changed auF0083, 84 & auF077 (Desired Throttle Angle) to match - Changed gain to FG (0.3) - Changed a small amount in the above tables No matter where I change it, it seems to clip and have a fit. What am I missing? I can't see any limiters in the Drive-By-Wire settings either. I even threw everything FG in there that relates to throttle (I have an FG throttle body & manifold) and it still failed. **I understand these settings can cause big problems, but only looking for small changes at >40% throttle. Thanks!
  3. What motor do you have? If it's a BF / FG, put a BA alternator on it. Non-smart, it'll charge all the time. Or, I think you can actually turn it into a dumb alternator in the tune, Roland may be able to comment!
  4. I've done similar to what Roland is suggesting (also a manual Barra GQ), I have an FG throttle, and have put the BF airflow numbers in it for idle. Has helped lots, but needs a bit more. I'm working on getting it to be better at pulling off the line - So messing with it further r.e. airflow may help more.
  5. Bit of a thread mine, but I've been playing with throttle settings on my BA gas motor with FG cams & inlet, and its a bit of a prick to get working. (BF PCM - HACCKBC). Can't seem to get throttle settings to stick, even if I copy the entire Drive by Wire / Pedal & Throttle limits tabs from the FG HAEDDEZ tune. Seems to get to WOT too quickly, then throws an ETC code at me. Will keep at it and let people know if I work it out. I'm assuming the BF PCM doesn't have a function or something, or the BF pedal has different voltage ranges? (FG T/B) It's in a GQ patrol, so bit heavier than a falcon. Needs a bit more responsiveness! Any help would be great, but understand the disclaimers :)
  6. Thanks Roland. Great work on the logging release btw. When tuning a vehicle on the dyno, is there suggested settings to disable knock control (to find proper MBT & Borderline spark values)? A shop in my town has just installed a dyno, so I'll rent some time from him (costs permitting), and tune this thing properly.
  7. Is there an RPM ceiling the factory knock control will pull timing at WOT? I've got an early eGas engine in my patrol (10.7:1), with FG inlet, BF ecu and cams. Have adjusted timing according to the knock logs at WOT. I haven't had my knock ears on it recently, but it sometimes blows a bit of white smoke at WOT at high rpm. Doesn't seem to be pulling timing. Does it have a rpm where knock control stops controlling timing?
  8. I remember a similar topic in here, about gear ratios. Guy changed the ratio of a gear in his t56 and it wouldn't engage cruise, until the correct ratios were set in the tune - It seems like it might expect a particular rpm for a speed?
  9. I use the octane *sensing* spark reductions for my N/A barra patrol, from 98 to 91. Works well. Not sure how much I'd trust it on a turbo though
  10. Yep, I also licensed a BF N/A (HACCKBC) SCT tune with no issues. Tune wasn't amazing (no timing changes made, just got the trims close), so ended up re-doing most of it.

    CAN Messages

I'll have to do some logging on my FG, would you be willing to list the data (i.e. what the messages are for) for what you've found? I've been messing with BA, BF & some FG Can-Bus stuff, its cool but sometimes a bit tedious. Here's my list of what I have so far, I'll update it when I get some more. You've probably identified alot of it already though. BA-FGX_CanBusID.xlsx
  12. Thanks @finnigan001 - Have had a look at that one, that would be massively tedious on one of our ECUs though? To reflash and run it up on the dyno every time a timing change is needed? The reason I'm after some sort of logging of BSFC (brake specific fuel consumption) is to get the MBT table mapped properly for cruise / part throttle timing.
  13. Is there a recommended way to log injector duty cycle (bsfc) to get the cruise timing in the ballpark on the road? Currently using an SCT X4 to log, I haven't managed to find a reliable way to do it yet. Suggestions would be welcome! Got the knock-limited spark pretty right with knock ears, but the MBT non knock-limited stuff is proving harder. How do dyno tuners do it with the reflash-style ECUs? Just do a few pulls at specific loads and speeds, change something then try again - While logging torque output on each run?
  14. Thanks Roland! Appreciate the fast response.
