JoshC
Hi all, Im having some issues getting the ecu to control boost. I've got a FG na ecu with the 3rd ecu plug (was a 5r55 car) and have wired up the boost control solenoid and boost pressure sensor to that plug. I have turned on the boost sensor setting and wastage setting in pcmtec but cant get the ecu to control either. Is it even possible on a na ecu or do they not have the hardware required ? Cheers all and merry Christmas
TBCG
From what we have found and anyone to correct me if I am wrong but the NA ECU's don't have the turbo wastegate drivers to support what you are attempting to do. You will need a turbo ECU
Roland@pcmtec
I think there were some oddball NA PCMs that had the wastegate driver but the safest option is to always get the correct ecu for your application as Ford tend to strip all unused IO. Whether this is via the PBL only or a combination of PBL and IO drivers on the boards I'm not sure.
Plumbs
I have a Na conversion. I just run a GFB 2 or 3 controller. Think it would be much easier to tune . Than trying to work out what strategy or hardware differences there are ?
Roland@pcmtec
It would cost the same as just buying a turbo pcm. Not too mention you lose the safety features and full closed loop boost control.
