will15
Is there a way we can locked down one gear say 3rd or 4th when doing dyno pulls with a fg-zf auto
Sam
What do you mean by that? I’m assuming you mean stop it from changing out of 3rd or 4th? If that’s the case just manually select gears and put it in which ever gear you want and then start the run once in the gear you want. will15
If you manually select the gear, say 4th gear it wants to knock back to 3rd and the only way I can stop it is to start the pull at a higher speed. But when you do that the run dosent start untill around 3500rpm and I want to start around 2500rpm.
Sam
Change the shift table so it doesn't change down a gear. You should be able to put it into 4th and have it at at or below 2500rpm.
Sam
Have you changed shift pattern 27 at all?
will15
No haven’t played with any shift patterns, is that what the table is called “27”?
Sam
Shift pattern 27 is your manual mode. You'll find it under ZF Shift/Lock Schedule

Puffwagon
In manual mode it won't kick down. The throttle is considered wide open when the pedal is just touching the detent. It doesn't need to touch the floor. You can pick a gear, press the pedal until it touches the detent and it'll wind out without kicking back. So that extra click you feel when you push down hard is just so the auto will kick back a gear?
Puffwagon
Yep. You can see that the extra pedal travel past the detent does nothing to the throttle opening when you look at your scanner. 1

Puffwagon
I just had a quick look and I've got a 4th gear run starting at 53kph and just over 1500rpm.

It's also less than ideal on a dyno with a high powered car as there's a chance that something will break. The car would probably never see that much load on the street. Cheers Ok, i thought the colors might indicate a safety part (green), and dangerous (red) lol. Thanks
