@Bill do you know if forscan has the ability to reset the adaptive shift patterns?

FORScan has a TCM Module Reset function. I haven't tested it to confirm if it resets adaptations.

When you write a TCM file using PCMTEC, you have the option to reset "TCM Adaptive"

ive tried clicking on TCM an i cant actually click on it, its actually blanked out. maybe i have no idea what im doing lol. i have the "fg xr6T"one

If the TCM is greyed out, it's not included in the file.

thanks so much bill!! it seems that the file im using in the demo does not have it!! that explain it!!

Check all the Demo files to see if any have the ZF. Even if it's not exactly your vehicle, it'll still give you an idea of how much is in each level

hi bill thanks so much for that.

i have been playing around with the demo.
i am trying to understand pressures, the "how to ZF trans maps" i couldnt find the command prompts i searched for them an had no luck. this is me having a play around with the demo creating a  what i might call "safe" timing an fuel map

No worries dat111.....sounds like you might not be changing the licencing level for PCM & TCM for the file you're looking at or the Demo file HAEDHB2 may not include the ZF. It was a few years ago that I was looking at demo files.
The lower the level "Enthusiast", the less you will see. As you increase to "Professional" & "Workshop", the more parameters & tables you get access to.
Here's where you change what you can see at each licencing level if you haven't found it

was wondering is it possible to use the NA TCM  into the turbo box with no issues? or do i need to match all the serial numbers etc?
or just drop the valve body replace all the seals an then bolt back up an off ya go. ?

You can swap the currently working NA TCM into the turbo box. I'd recommend replacing the valve body gasket, seals, including the one for the ZF TCM wiring connector & transmission filter if you are swapping them over. You may need to carry out some tuning due to the different number of clutch packs.

Another option if you don't want to swap the TCM's is reprogramming the TCM. Something that might be considered with a fresh box that you don't want to open up.

what sort of learning curve to tuning the box is there?

There's a fair amount to learn with tuning the ZF & there's a good amount of support within the group. Check out the transmission tuning section of the forum
    https://forum.pcmtec.com/forum/19-transmission-tuning/
and also the HOWTO section. You'll find more info there. Here's an example

@BillIm going to take it in next week to see what he says about it.

I done a few tests over the past few days in regards to it being temp related, It seems to be the first 3-4 Shift after key on (when cold) is the only time it will slip. After that first 3-4 shift if i slow down then go for another 3-4 shift its fine. Other than that first shit i cant fault the box at all its been really good.

If it only does it once & is ok after that, you might need to leave the car overnight so it can be checked & datalogged when cold.

Box was built just under 2 years ago, I have had the issue for the past 5-6 months.

If the box was built 2 years ago but only started having the issue in the last 5-6 months, then the ZF tune was working ok.

Thanks @hjtrbo I will take it back to the guy who built my trans to take a look as its still under warranty.

Have a chat with the bloke who built the box, let him know about the issue & get his opinion on whether it's possibly got a valve body to case leak as this is still a possibility.
As suggested by @hjtrbo it could also be the tune. The box now has some running time & although it may have been working ok when new, with a little wear, the tune may need adjusting.

Slips when cold but not warm. Something is mechanically wrong. I'd be willing to put a pineapple on it being your valve body to case seals. Can be changed at home, under 2 hours to get done.

I was thinking this was a possibility too. I wonder how long ago the 6R80 box was built, if it's a relatively new problem or if it's always been an issue @G6ETURBO

Hi, I'm getting some slip in 2-3 and 3-4 down load  mainly and on light-medium loads. I turned down ZF00900 (Nominal slip table) down by 50 on all light loads, Went for a drive and the issue had gotten alot worse.

Have you compared the G6E strategy to a F6 or XR6T strategy?

    12 hours ago, G6ETURBO said:

I'm actually only gettiing this slip when the box is cold. I cant find the exact table to up line pressure with lower temps to try and fix this issue. Would you by anychance know which tables i should be looking at?  Also could my numbers be out of range at all due to it being a 6r80 Built box.

I'm only a novice & taking a guess here, so if you try any of the below & are successful, please let us know what worked.

If you were to log the ZF temp to determine the temperature at which the slip occurs & is no longer present, you could compare that against these tables & make adjustments.

Note: Some parameters are still in development & require the workshop version to see them.
Even if you're unable to view or change the parameters, I recommend datalogging temp so you know when the issue occurs & at what temp it's resolved.

Hi All, I'm having an issue when the car is cold and i put it in Reverse/Drive idles will raise up then the car goes into limp mode and throws the P2110 code. If i start the car and put it in reverse straight away it wont happen, Only if i let it sit for like 10-15 seconds then put it in gear ill get the code, But even if i do put it in reverse straight away by the time i reverse out of the drive way and go to put it in drive it will throw the code then. The car does have a aftermarket cam if that makes a difference.

Is it okay to zero off the P2110 in dtc controls? Or can i raise auF0517 to a high number to stop it from happening?

    ,Thanks

It's always best to fix problems than try to tune around them. Is the P2110 code the only one you're getting? I'm asking because sometimes, there's others that may be seen in conjunction with P2110.

Start with the easy one....check the throttle plate operation & clean it with some throttle body cleaner.

Bill we might have to employ you soon, you are doing a better job than us at replying to these!

@Roland@pcmtecI'm often awake at 4-5am, start work 7am & of an evening, I don't watch really TV so there's times where I have free time to help. Also, the neighbours wouldn't be happy if I went to the shed that early in the morning or when they're trying to get young children to bed 😂

Hey, can anyone help with a BA standalone wiring diagram?, cheers in advance

The diagram will vary depending on whether it's going into a skid car or road registered conversion to include the O2 sensor, wired up to an instrument cluster etc
It might be better to jump on one or all of the Facebook Barra conversion pages. You might be able to get some more specific info related to the vehicle you're putting the engine into.

  13. Great write up @Kirby@pcmtec

    How to detect?

If you think its happening you can use the PCMTec Datalogger to verify. The following logging channels are useful:

MID36381    Estimated Gear Selected - MTX
MID61215    Instant Transmission Ratio - MTX
MID37788    Current Gear Ratio - MTX
MID110730     Time In Gear - MTX

This issue is one I've previously investigated with version 1.25 & found that the channels were not as clearly named. The updated naming & ID in Version 2.10 has really tidied this up.

I've just connected to a BA F6 HAAT3VC, didn't actually go for a drive & can find all channels except MID110730. I'm guessing it might not be available with the BA PCM or it's something that's still being investigated.

    image.png.4073af89d43809e75b64fcfe918b6d00.png

All the MID channels above, are available on the BF XR6T.
    MID110730 is workshop only

Slightly off topic but sorta on topic...how would ya go getting an FG pcm and tcm into a BF so you get the hectic fuel cut on the shifts? Worth it if the trans was out?

If it were only that simple....the BA/BF CANbus system is different to the FG. There's a lot more to it than swapping in a FG pcm & tcm & re-pinning a few wires.

Hey guys I normally use HAAT3VC however I'm currently looking at a BA RTV (HAAO6SZ) with a turbo conversion, does anyone know of a strategy with the diff lock controls and the BF tables VCT etc? thanks.

I've had a bit of a look at this too & all the strategies I've looked at didn't have the VCT switch or the BF tables. AFAIK, there isn't one unless I missed checking one.

I cant seem to find this, is this a professional only thing?

am interested to know max retard/advance deg is on the exhaust cam in a bf.

auF12525 Expected position of cam hardstop at maximum energized position is a workshop - PCMTEC development parameter.

CAM specs & valve timing info from the BF workshop manual gives details on cam advance degrees as highlighted below

Turning on turbo logic scales the factory turbo TMAP sensor

Hi Bill. Thanks for the report. We have now fixed these issues with the latest beta version. With 1.25 files these are now upgraded to a backups folder and loaded from there (so you can still use the original file with 1.25 later on). Also we fixed up an issue with unit conversion which affected the temperatures when displaying in the 2.10 beta

Thanks Matt. I'd noticed that the temps were now displaying correctly & there was a new backups folder. Great work guys!!

Yer fair enough that makes sense about the switch, so to achieve fully independent vct I still need the f6 tune and load my current tune onto that, the ba f6 tune is that for 5 speed or 6 speed as I’m currently trying to figure out how to get cruise control working in 6th gear on my ba

To have "Fully Independent VCT" in a BA, you will need the F6 strategy HAAT3VC. F6 is 6 speed manual.

To get cruise working in 6th, start by looking at the "GEAR" parameters....Gear ratio, Gear min ratio & Gear max ratios. Also make sure your diff ratio is correct.
