  1. Here's a short video of switches being checked using FORScan on my phone. It was what I had with me at the time. You can see when switches are activated, there are voltage changes or when the brake is applied, brake is displayed.

You'll also need to add the clutch pedal switch to the channels.

When checking the brake pedal switches, press slowly/gradually so you can see them activate individually. The BOO switch should activate before the BPA switch.

Does anyone ever pull the VIN off of the ABS module when these issues are happening? I see that FORScan does not appear to be able to do it. However it is there in the As Built in block 0. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

I've never given it a thought. I've swapped ABS modules in BA & BF without needing to change VIN. I haven't had to swap one in FG

  3. I'd say the downloads page you're seeing is different because you haven't purchased PCMTEC. What do you get when you try to click on "This is downloads2"?
Does it show a link or do anything? If not, it could be as simple as a broken link. Use the "Contact Us" link & advise support. Provide all the details including screenshots.

Not sure if not having windows activated will cause you any issues either. Cheap Windows10 Pro licences can be purchased on eBay for about $30 the last time I looked. That's how I activated mine.

Now is this only happening because I have not as of yet purchased PCMTEC?

Up until now I have been using the demo Version to show to friends who have expressed an interest in Purchasing the PCMTEC software to use on their own cars.

I hope to soon purchase a Professional License for PCMTEC but have been holding out for the moment as the Demo was extremely glitchy running on my Dual boot 2010 Macbook Pro. Especially when compared to VCM Editor from HP Tuners, which has so far been nothing but rock solid stable...

Check the 2010 MacBook Pro meets the recommended specs on the FAQ page. I've been running PCMTEC on my 2019 MacBook Pro for several years & have only occasionally have a glitch. They've often been caused by having multiple instances of the program open & in the earlier versions. It's been much better in the 2+ versions.

I run PCMTEC on Windows 10 via Bootcamp.

Based on my experience, as long as your MacBook meets the specs, you're running Windows10 with the latest updates & all the other required software eg .Net4.7.1, you should be able to run PCMTEC professional.

Thank you for the Link to download version 2.11.

I could not for the life of me find a single link on the website to download any versions of PCMTEC for download on the website.

Even the downloads page is devoid of any links to download the software.

After downloading and installing PCMTEC release 2.11, I was able to run the program, and then sign in, but now this is what happens...

When you put the mouse pointer on the word "Download", you should see it change to the hand & link display at the bottom of the screen.
Have you got .Net4.7.1 etc installed as mentioned lower in the downloads page?

Make sure these are all installed. Sign out of PCMTEC & reboot the laptop & see if it works. It may still be that it doesn't work as a DEMO customer.
If that doesn't work, try installing the version 3....again from the lower section of the downloads page....Looking for special downloads.

None of this may help you, I'm just throwing out suggestions

Unfortunately my demo software is refusing to allow me to log in claiming I need to update to the latest version: 3.00 from www.pcmtec.com/downloads

going to this page I have been unable to find any download link on this page.

I can't see the link to the demo software on the website which may mean that what was called "Demo Version" may have been removed due to it being several years old. Try installing the latest 2.11 release or the 3 Beta & logging in. When users login to the application, it logs them in with the level of access that the user has paid for ie enthusiast can only access enthusiast parameters. The worst that can happen is you can't log in.

PCMTEC may have removed the demo version & updated the way a user who doesn't have a paid subscription accesses the newest versions ie they may be able to login & view files in the same way the demo version worked but not have edit access. It would make sense to have you looking at what the PCMTEC application is capable of now as opposed to what it was capable of several years ago.

    Admin Edit: Download link removed

Hi all, Thanks Bill for your help. Next week we will load in the manual Strategy's. He lives in the next town, just very hard when u live several hours away from a city and also a young Feller with not much resources like us older blokes. We shall call the young bloke W for now. But he was told by mechanics that it was impossible to change a btr to a 5 speed (not sure if it's a t5 or t56); and you can see why?

T5 is a 5 speed & t56 is 6 speed. Big difference in $$ & there'll be a few more issues to deal with to get cruise working. MTX min & max values need to be correct. Diff ratio plays a part in this too.

I'm getting the owner to take a pic of the fault codes. W, told me that when he is in 5th and its in decel spark backing off. The engine light goes from solid to flashing !??.

This should be sorted with the manual strategy but getting codes will also show other possible issues.

Also doesn't have reverse lights. if anyone knows the wires to cut and shut that would be great. Meanwhile, I'll search the forum.

2003 na xr6 btr to 5 speed conversion. Ok yep, no limp mode. works great, even shows what gear it's in. box came from a donor xr6 don't know what year?

Ok, the check engine light comes on, did a reset on forscan said pats fault. disabled pats, no change. possibly park switch?

also cruise control doesn't work. It's a mate's car and I asked if he hooked up the clutch pedal switch, to which he said ' Yes'.

    Other than that, works fine.

Any ideas on the check engine light and cruise control?

    regards Graham

Hi Graham, I usually recommend that a manual strategy is used straight up. It saves having to manually update switch settings, dashpot etc.

A PATS fault shouldn't trigger the check engine light. There has to be other codes to trigger the light.

Cruise not working could be related to other switch settings.
Was cruise working before the conversion?
Does "CRUISE" display on the cluster when?

Check cruise, clutch & brake switch operation using FORScan.

    Small Update:

    image.thumb.png.eaf15f07cefabab32d8c41b83a670d03.png

Parameters auF1718, auF2552, auF2531, auF12105 control the data which is sent on CAN ID 0x623 bytes 0-3 respectively(0 being the first byte).

I am still mapping the rest, and as for how this can be used in practice to match ABS Config to PCM Strategy, the end goal would be to have the ABS configured as per the physical setup on the vehicle, so Xr6 NA should really be set to Xr6 NA Configuration in the ABS module, but to have that work with an Xr6 Turbo Strategy/PCM the above is likely what the ABS module reads before deciding if it is good to operate or if it will go into fault mode.

I suspect that on the same makes the ABS module and pump hardware is all the same, this makes sense from the point of the manufacturer, however there is a lot of different hardware between BA/BF/FG/FGII/FG-X as well as 3 different diagnostic protocols. This means that in theory, as long as you can tell the ABS module the right data you should be able to match the correct ABS config for the vehicle setup to any PCM strategy.

    More to come.

Great info again Jakka. You've likely already worked out the rest of the description for auF2552 but in case you haven't, others are interested or @PCMTEC wish to update the description, auF2552 "Calibration of Engine Cylinders and Valves for SCP. CAl as (NUMCYL * 8 + (Number of valves)

    6 cyl is 6x8+4=52
    V8 3v is 8x8+3=67
    V8 4v is 8x8+4-68

Thanks Bill, it's like you've been watching me. My car was originally HAANFHZ and HAANFG4 was one of the codes I tried as it was very close to the original without knowing if it was a T56 or T5 tune, I now have the HAAT3VC in the car and it appears to be pulling the pin low as it should.

Although I have the "Professional" license for PCMtec, I have never seen the "Workshop/Professional Development Parameters". Might be "Workshop (not) Professional". Is this correct?

Not a problem Peter, you are correct. The reverse lockout parameters are classified "Workshop/Professional Development Parameters" & are only visible to workshop customers

I've spent a ridiculous amount of time in trying to find the exact parts required to make a system plug and play and am now waiting on a slow UPS boat...

Meanwhile I had the thought that the strategy that I used to convert my car to a t56 from btr may have been a t5 strategy so tried a couple of other strategies. It turns out that my hunch was correct and with the ba f6 strategy the pcm pulls the pin low and the original motivation for this thread was a mistake. No regrets  I've learned heaps and have some spare parts for other things.

I've seen the issue with the reverse lockout not working before on a conversion & until you've posted what you found, I didn't investigate it too far.
Checking HAAT3VC F6 strategy against HAANFG4 t5 XR6T strategy, the reverse lockout parameters are blank. Opening HAANFG4 on it's own & searching reverse lockout, the parameters aren't included in the strategy.

    image.thumb.png.8617a46c47798eff3106b02af9d4385b.png

In the past, I've just compared the gear ratios of manual strategies to the F6 to determine if it's a 5 speed or 6 speed manual strategy but now know checking reverse lockout is another option. F6 6 speed open below with 5 speed in the compare.....MTX ratio helps get the cruise control working on a 6 speed conversion

That looks good mate however I'd personally consider running less timing from the positive pressure load cells prior to 2500rpm to be safe, unless you can use knock ears to verify. You will still be able to hit those load cells on the street, for example wide throttle up a steep hill in a higher gear. This depends on turbo size too and the rest of the spark. I still manage to hit +1 load with the GTX3582 on moderate throttle uphill doing low rpm. Hence my timing is all extrapolated outside of most common load x rpm combinations.

@dat111 you've changed to a 3576 so this is more likely to happen with boost coming on earlier

Yeah I already have renamed it and updated the description. Next time there is an update it will be under "Miscellaneous" in the editor.

Cool, it'll be easier to find there & having it added into the "Calibration list" will also make it easier to filter strategies with the desired value if needed

there is an amount im ready to spend on a turbo pcm, but its just not what ive found them for.

we will see, still a few other things to buy before i absolutely need the pcm. so maybe one will popup locally in that time.

Ocassionally, you'll see one advertised for a reasonable price but they're never local, lol

yeah its just one of those things. Use a $50 PCM or a $550 + PCM with awesome boost control.

I have a factory turbo territory and the boost control is nice, but i also run two na+t cars with more  manual boost controls and they function just fine. To the point where i actually have a ba turbo 6 speed ecu to replace the one in the drift ute, for nearly 2 years but haven't bothered because it works just fine as is.

Yep, where you've already got the external controller setup & it's working fine, then why bother. If you're starting from scratch & have to buy a na pcm & external controller then it pays to weigh up both options & goals.
